I have b...A super tasty recipe! Beats meat any day!
I have been preparing a variation of this for years as a routine dish. In the interest of saving time and energy (by not having to fire up the entire oven) I quickly braise the tofu in a frying pan on the stove at medium heat. For this, thinly coat the pan's surface with a little olive or sesame oil, then add the tofu with the marinade, and braise the tofu until brown, turning it over every minute or so. The water in the marinade will evaporate while most of the flavors will be absorbed by the tofu. Yum!
A few suggestions for the marinade:
1. replace the rice vinegar with the juice of a lemon or lime;
2. add spices or spice combinations:
for example, turmeric, curry, and/or garam masala, or
Thai seasoning, or
Cajun spice mix, or
Herbes de Provence, or
....the variations are endless.
Another variation is to substitute the tofu with tempeh.
Lastly, since you are gluten-sensitive note that some soy sauce has wheat in it.
Bon appetit!Michael Bachmannhttps://www.facebook.com/michael.h.bachmannnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5051025379602276005.post-7191342132109147302012-08-05T10:36:37.038-07:002012-08-05T10:36:37.038-07:00Sounds very very yummy!
