News & Updates: The BLOG

Last week, I gave you some updates about what's going on with Alter-Eco and my life, etc, etc. Now, it's time for some news about the exciting things going on with the ReLove Plan.et Blog. ^_^

You've already started to see more posts and some regular features, and I promise that there will be many more to come. Here are a few new "Segments" you can expect to see around the blog...

What's Going On?: This Segment is a large focus of the blog. It is essentially what I've already been putting out there; sharing information on the well-being of our Planet and Ourselves. And I have soooo much to share!!! ~_^ And hopefully you all will get a lot out of it.

Wednesday Favorites: A weekly sharing of music, books, art, people, quotes, absolutely anything I feel inspired by that particular week. This one has already been up the past few weeks and will continue for fun "hellos" and a chance for those quick blog check-ins when life is busy --- and to encourage the rest of you to leave comment love ~_^. Within this one I will also be doing "Fun Finds"; to share anything I happen upon of interest in the Eco & Crafty world! Likely lots of Etsy focus here.

Love, Life, Happiness: These will be some interviews with myself, so to speak. Not in a shallow, mundane way, I assure you. Just some exposure into my own life and experiences that I feel might be worth sharing and could be of benefit to others. As well as other fun "Life" & "Happiness" Inspired Posts. ^_^

Ecohood of the Travelling Garments: Forgive my terrible pun with this one, I try to be creative, sometimes it just comes out as ultra cheesy :p. Regardless, I am suuuuper excited about this new Segment!!! I'm looking for Stories from my amazing Customers of themselves in an Alter-Eco Clothing item! ♥ This could be anything from a concert, a random event, life experience, absolutely anything! Be creative with it! I encourage photos of you wearing the garment--even better if it's the event itself ~_^! I'm excited because I think its a fun opportunity for me to get some more interaction with the amazing people that I've had the pleasure of "meeting" online. ♥

What's in My Closet: Another fun one to cater to the Earth-Friendliness of the Blog. ^_^ A sharing of products, clothing, cleaners, foods, make-up, just about anything about that one might find about my home that I use. You can expect lots of products and reviews for all you awesome people working towards a Good-for-You & Good-for-the-Planet Home & Lifestyle. ^_^

Vegan Recipes: Focussing on Vegan, Gluten & other allergy-free recipes. I thought it might be fun to show people that being Vegan, & not your sad "north american" diet can be anything but mundane. I LOVE food, don't make no mistake about it! And here's an example that you don't have to sacrifice yummy taste for health, in fact quit the opposite!

On top of these, I'm sure I will be blogging about random news, things to do with Alter-Eco Clothing, and any other random happenings that don't fall under those "categories".

NeWS & UpDaTeS: Spring Cleaning...

Spring is finally in the air! After some debatable snow, it has mostly cleared and there is a warmth and freshness back in the air. This evening, the sky is a beautiful mix of pinkish-red hues as the sun sets, finally at a decent hour, overshadowed by clouds that promise rain some time in the next few days. Nature is a beautiful thing....now where was I? Ah yes, Spring Cleaning...

I've mentioned previously that I would like to put so much more time into the Alter-Eco Blog. It's admittedly slow-going, but it will and is happening. I thought this would be a good time to check in, say hello (HELLO!), and give you all an earful of updates. ~_^

Firstly, the reason the Blog has remained a little slow... Alter-Eco Clothing is BOOMING!!! I seriously can't thank all my amazing supporters and customers enough! Orders have been piling in and keeping me intensely busy this New Year! And it's just so awesome to see more people supporting Sustainable Fashion! Go Eco-Chicks!!! ♥

I have two exciting New lines coming very soon; "Tattooed Zen", and "Alice In Wonderland". Saturday was the much-anticipated "Alice" Photoshoot, done with the talented BlackBird Photography, and everything just went so smoothly! I'm so excited to get the photos back!! You're going to Love the new designs!!

Since Alter-Eco Clothing is growing, it seems the appropriate time to bring Black Widow Clothing on an end. The line will be phased out by the end of May. For you music-lover, don't worry! I will be altering used Band shirts still at Alter-Eco and still be taking custom orders. So go raid your boyfriend's closet for your favorite shirts, remember the importance of Recycling! ~_^

This brings me to next bit of news; WE'RE MOVING!!!! The time has finally come for me and the hubby to leave Alberta behind us and return to Beautiful British Columbia. For those non-Canadians, this is a Big deal! BC is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and Alberta is, well, cold and flat and dry and windy and ugly and, well, you get the idea. We live in Edmonton -- Oil country...hardly fitting for an Eco-freak like myself :p. So we're moving back to the land of forests and trees and nature and water and all things awesome ^_^. With the move, we are also taking some much needed time off and exploring this great country (and possibly dipping down into the States). What this means is that, sadly, the Etsy store will be closed for 1-2 Months. Don't Panic!! I'm telling you this for that reason, and to assure you that the store will be back open when we return and even better than before :D.

Soul-searching and spending time out in the wilderness and reconnecting with ourselves and mother-nature are a must for both of us. Life is Now and it's about new experiences, and we've put off this trip for much too long, especially as we both feel more and more importance for our planet. And we will have lots to share when we return. ^_^

The Blog will also likely be on hiatus until I return from our travels. But on the bright side, I'm sure it will give me even more to blog about ~_^.

Life is busy, busy, busy in the meantime. I'm starting to get my foot in the door with some more modeling. Been keeping connections with friends and family before the move. Starting to figure out our plan for the trip--and start packing :S. I'm also still getting my beautiful huge back Tattoo worked on--which I can't wait to share with you all once its finished ^_^. And my sister is due with her first baby any day now, as well we have a new one month baby nephew. ♥

Really, just a reminder to breathe and enjoy every second of this beautiful Life, hectic or not, and to focus on the positive. "There are No Ordinary Moments"

♥ Wednesday Favorites!!! ♥

Spring has been in the air as of lately and it has certainly brought a certain fresh feeling and warm thoughts of new beginnings. I am sad to say, however, that Edmonton has had a last retaliation from winter in the form of snow, snow, and more snow. I am personally not giving up on the feeling that it is spring, so I am keeping a big smile on my face and plunging forward regardless--and yes, I refuse to wear a winter jacket again until next winter.

So where am I going with this you may ask? Well, I have been disappointed with myself for the lack of new Posts to my Blog, and so, with this upbeat sense of new beginnings, I am determined to get more posts up on a regular basis. I'm starting with a new theme; Wednesday Favorites!

What is "Wednesday Favorites" you ask? Well, let's start with why Wednesday. I chose this day because, as it just so happens, I felt inspired today (which is, yes, Wednesday). It is the day before my "weekend" and for most of you it is half way through your work week, so why not add a little fun to get you through the other half ~_^?

What are these "favorites"? It is a list of my top picks for the week, whether it be music, eco products, books, movies, or absolutely whatever I feel like sharing that particular week.

Now, I would also like your participation! Yayyy! Whatever the theme I choose for the week, I would love to hear your thoughts and your picks as well so leave comments and some love! ♥

So, this Wednesday Favorites is Favorite Blogs!! Why? Because I asked what people would like me to blog about and my husband oh so wittily (in his usual sarcasm) suggested I blog about blogs. So that is what I am doing (take that Mr. Smart Mouth!).

1. CraftAnon: (http://craftanon.blogspot.com/) I could not possibly do a favorite Blog post without including this one! ~_^ This is the new revamped Diyscene team Blog! We recently have been doing a huge make-over, with a new name, new look. and new ideas! This blog is fun and gets all you lovely diy fans more involved with our awesome team! The blog features exclusive interviews with team members, TNT Sale information, our new "Ask me Anything" feature where we get to plague fellow members with questions they must answer ^_^, and a ton of other fun stuff to keep you updated on the team! ♥

2. Rockerbyebaby: (http://www.PunkRockerByeBaby.blogspot.com/) Amber's blog is absolutely amazing, and she's a fellow diyscener ^_^! She updates her blog constantly, so I bow down to her awesomeness for finding time to run a kick-ass business, have two little boys, and still find the time to blog! She is one amazing woman with tattoos, tons of style, And with an eco-friendly mind! Her blog features tons of fun, interactive stuff, including giveaways every week!! Check her out! You won't regret it!

3. Barley & Birch: (http://barleyandbirch.blogspot.com/) Another amazing blog! Their web-store sells adorable 100% Organic cotton baby and children's clothing that is just to die for! Their blog is a direct reflection of the values that make their business so wonderful--changing the world for a brighter, earth-conscious future, as well as getting in touch with their customers. Doesn't get much better than that!

4. Sedilu Green: (http://sedilugreen.blogspot.com/) I am a new follower to this blog, however I can already tell I am going to love it! ^_^ This eco-friendly Blogger sells some awesome "eco-stuffers" to encourage people to not use plastic bags to store food in!! Her attitude is just awesome and her blog is full of all sorts of earth-conscious information and ideas to help you be a greener Earthling! ^_^

5. In Love with Handmade: (http://pili-inlovewithhandmade.blogspot.com/) Pili is another awesome diyscene member who has the best taste and is completely dedicated to everything handmade! Her blog shares this love and her findings, purchases, etc. She's an awesome gal and therefor her blog is equally awesome! ^_^

6. Little Village Naturals: (http://littlevillagenaturals.blogspot.com/) Another blog with the well-being of the planet in mind! She has some awesome themes for certain days of the week, most involving eco-consciousness! Plus, she blogged about me for her "Made in Canada Mondays". ~_^
