☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

. . . . . . . . . .

We're taking back Mondays!!!
"Motivational Mondays" are fabulous tips to get you excited and pumped for the week!
Feeling low? Moody? Down on life? Well, that's what these posts are for! Time to feel awesome again and get some Positivity rolling! Just because it's Monday doesn't mean you can't have fun, smile, and enjoy Today! Apply these tips to your week and try to tell me that you don't start to see an improvement in your life! ;)
It's all about You! Change your perception, change your attitude, love your life! xo

. . . . . . . . . .

Focus on the Good, Not the Bad! It's amazing the people I see and know that Know how the Law of Attraction works and they still go against it. The more you complain about your life the more you will attract more things to complain about. The more you talk about the good things in your life the more you'll attract more good things. Stop dwelling on the bad and look for the thing to be grateful for instead. Okay? Okay!
Own It!  If you're dancing in your car or in the grocery store, or just plain enjoying being yourself and being silly then Own It! No being embarrassed when someone sees you, who cares?! Chances are you'll totally make someones day if they see you anyway because happiness is contagious. ;)
Try Smiling! Feeling down? Try smiling! Feeling moody? Try smiling! Can't turn that mood around? Try smiling? Smiling sends happy signals to your brain so the more you smile the more you will Feel Happy! So smile smile smile smile smile! Oh, and don't forget to SMILE!
Learn Something New!  Excite your brain and go out of your way to learn something new. Knowledge is fun, just don't let it make you have a big head. ;) After all, knowledge is useful but action is wisdom. But learning is fun and the more you learn the more you can apply to life and see life through new eyes.
Take Initiative with a New Friend! We get so timid us humans we do, so this week take some initiative to make that new friend. Most people are just like you and feel shy and insecure and feel that maybe you don't want to hang out with them. So you could be missing out on some amazing friendships if you don't do anything and at least put yourself out there. Most people also enjoy being social and seeing people so let go of the hesitant moment and be the one to make the first step. Even if the person doesn't want to hang out, don't take it personally, you're no worse off and now at least you know. Plus, everyone is different and not everyone is compatible. If someone doesn't want to be friends with you then you shouldn't want to be friends with that type of person either. Don't take it personally. Put yourself out there and you'll attract the right people, even if you have to try a few times. :)
Remember that Life is a Rollercoaster!  I can't tell you how many times I've experienced the super lows in my life and get discouraged. It happens to all of us. When you've worked so hard on yourself and your life to be happy then it's extra discouraging during the lows because you feel as if you have tried that hard and haven't gotten anywhere. It's easy to feel this way. But I will tell you, and chances are you know this to be true, but the low will pass and you'll feel even better than you did before once it passes. It's harder to think positive when you're in the middle of the low, so learn to have a good cry and let it out, talk and work through the issues and you'll be that much better when you come out of it. Promise!
"All creatures tremble when faced with violence; all creatures fear death, all love life. If we could only see ourselves in others, then how could we possibly hurt another creature ~ Ancient Buddhist Teachings" Compassion: Learn it, Teach it, Share it!

Create a Nice Day!!
Much Love from me to you!

❀ The Good News ❀

. . . . . . . . . .
Stop watching the News on T.V. filled with lies, propaganda, and made to make you feel helpless and afraid.

With all the negative news in the world, it's time to give you hope and inspiration. It's time to the weekly Good News!
. . . . . . . . . .

Humpback Whale Nursery and the Kimberley Saved!
Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority put industrial interests before the whales and other wildlife when, back in July 2012, it gave approval to Woodside Petroleum to build such a build a liquid natural gas processing plant in a region that houses the world’s largest humpback whale nursery, at James Price Point. As of April 12, the company is dropping plans for the $4.5 billion project that would have created one of the biggest industrial complexes on the planet and led to drilling and dredging some six kilometers out to sea.
This is all thanks to the Goolarabooloo Aboriginal people and nonprofit organization Sea Shepherd, undertaking “operation Kimberley Miinimbi” to bring the creation of Woodside Petroleum’s plant to public attention with support from the Australian Greens and a former Greens Senator, Bob Brown. At least 700 people participated in a Sydney demonstration against the project and contacted local and federal officials, says ENS.

Goods News for the Arctic and Polar Bears!
ConocoPhillips announced last week that it will be cancelling its 2014 Arctic drilling plans.

New Zealand legalizes same-sex Marriage
New Zealand has just become the 13th country to legalize the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. Brazil, Mexico and the U.S. offer marriage in parts of the country.

Antibiotic Tetracycline no longer allowed in Apple Production
Last week, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) decided that it will not allow the antibiotic, tetracycline, to be used in the production of organic apples and pears beyond the original 2014 deadline.
This was a hard fought victory, one that you made possible. Nearly 32,000 of you signed our petition asking the NOSB to get antibiotics out of organic fruit production. The OCA’s Alexis Baden-Mayer delivered the petitions in person at the NOSB meeting in Portland, Ore. She testified along with activists from other groups about the threat these antibiotics pose to public health, and to the organic industry.

Earth Day Deeds!
In Pakistan, Earth Day Pakistan is in the process of planting 50,000 trees today.
In the Cayman Islands, 1,500 people are participating in a beach and reef clean-up.
In Columbus, Ohio, volunteers are pulling invasive plants, cleaning up neighborhoods, and preparing gardens at over 1000 sites in the region.

Success! U.K. Saves Wild Animals from Kidnapping and Circus Life

The United Kingdom has finally banned circuses from using wild animals in their shows. Over 13,500 Care2 members urged them to do so.

Success! New York Wildlife Rehab Center Will Remain Open

A critically important wildlife rehabilitation operation in Long Island called Wildlife in Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation (WINORR) was in danger of losing their animals. Robin Lynn created a petition on Care2 to keep them open and it worked, allowing WINORR to continue rescuing and caring for wildlife at their current location.
It was the collective force of your support that pressured the town to negotiate and reach a compromise that works for both sides and sees all charges against the Horvaths dropped.
One more successful petition and to show that your actions do count for the greater good!

❀ The Good News ❀

. . . . . . . . . .
Stop watching the News on T.V. filled with lies, propaganda, and made to make you feel helpless and afraid.

With all the negative news in the world, it's time to give you hope and inspiration. It's time to the weekly Good News!
. . . . . . . . . .

I know we really need some good news this week, so here it is; lots of inspiring amazing wonderful stories to feel good about! ;)

Boston Marathon Disaster Sparks Immediate Outpouring of Compassion
"It is this solidarity, this resilience, this compassion for one another that people who perpetrate these crimes find threatening. It’s easy and advantageous to control people through fear, whether it’s the threat of real violence or imagined. A population crippled by fear withdraws and hides. We allow connections to erode. We grow suspicious.
But to remain strong, to love, to share and to embrace each other in a time of crisis as well as peace, THAT is true power. To remember our common bonds, to treat each other with respect and compassion, this is the most perfect way to fight back against those who would keep us terrified and isolated.
We are too strong, too smart and too human to be controlled by such a cheap tactic. Find a way to reach out in love to someone affected by this disaster, whether you know them or not. Only together can we heal the sickness that causes these atrocities to occur."

Piglet Rescued
Recently, MFA had a special opportunity to help in the rescue of a very lucky piglet named Lucy, who was found running through the streets of Riverside, California. After a kind person rescued her from a local animal shelter and provided a temporary home for her, MFA jumped at the chance to help this piglet by bringing her to Animal Place, a wonderful farmed animal sanctuary in northern California.
One more piggy saved! (You can watch the video here)

Cruelty Investigations and Ag-Gag Make Front Page of the New York Times
Public awareness of ag-gag legislation--laws that seek to put an end to undercover investigations inside factory farms--got a major boost this past weekend when the New York Times ran an article on the front page of its Sunday edition.
While these laws have been passed in some states, others aren't on board just yet, so the more awareness and campaigning done, the better a chance of shutting them down will be.
New Mexico's 'Ag- Gag' Bill is Dead, so that's a start as well.

Australia Opens All-Vegan Grocery Store!
Another vegan win! Kym & Kelly are the hardworking folks behind Australian-based online vegan business Vegan Online. They have now just opened their doors for retail business under the name Everything Vegan. Everything Vegan is a VEGAN grocery store that will be stocking a wide range of premium vegan products, including groceries, meat/dairy food substitutes, chocolate and sweets, pet care, household cleaning products, cosmetics, healthcare, skin and baby care, gifts and much more.
So if you're in Australia, be sure to visit this place for me! ;)

Federal Judge Rules That Government Can’t Just Ignore Environmental Concerns
Anti-fracking advocates in California are marking a big victory as a judge has ruled that no, you can’t just go drilling around willy-nilly without sufficient environmental impact reports. The ruling, made in response to a suit from environmental organizations, doesn’t cancel the oil leases originally issued for the land, but it does mandate that the groups reach a resolution with the government, which illegally granted the leases in the first place. That provides some wiggle-room for fighting fracking in the Monterey Shale, and it sent a clear message to the Obama Administration: fracking is not popular in the United States.

Greenland’s First Female Prime Minister Says ‘No’ To Arctic Drilling
The new government of Greenland will not grant any fresh offshore oil and gas drilling licenses in the country’s Arctic waters and will also place existing licenses under greater scrutiny. The moratorium is a result of concerns raised by Greenpeace about the risk of oil spills and the fear that offshore oil and gas operations will increase climate change.
In March 2013, Shell also “screwed up” drilling for oil in Arctic waters and will not be allowed back without a comprehensive overhaul of its plans. So drilling in the Arctic has some good news lately. Progress!

Eight-year-old's Determination shuts down Bill
Eight-year-old Aamira Fetuga greeted Republican Sen. Stacey Campfield Thursday with a petition asking him to withdraw his bill tying welfare benefits to children's grades. She then proceeded to follow him around the TN State Capitol Building shaming him for writing the legislation. Shortly before the vote, Campfield withdrew the bill!

Climate Change Introduced to U.S. Science Curriculum
U.S. students will for the first time receive instruction on climate change following the adoption last Tuesday of new science education guidelines. The guidelines also take a firm stand that children must learn about evolution, the central organizing idea in the biological sciences for more than a century. (Even though some extreme right-wingers choose to deny that reality.)
Unfortunately, states are not required to adopt these standards, even though 26 states, including Arizona, California, Iowa, Kansas and New York, have committed to seriously considering them. However, still good news and a step in the right direction.

Village in India Plants 111 Trees Every Time a Girl is Born
When it comes to the environment, an increase in human population almost always means a costly toll. Not in a village in India. They celebrate the birth of every female child (in a country where most want boys) by the community coming together and planting 111 fruit trees in her honor in the village common.
But planting trees isn't the only way that the community is ensuring a brighter future for their daughters. According to a report in The Hindu, villagers also pool together around $380 dollars for every new baby girl and deposited in an account for her. The girl’s parents are required to contribute $180, and to make a pledge to be considerate guardians.

♥ Design Specimen: Vegan-friendly | Compassionate Jewelry! ♥

Let me tell you about Design Specimen; they ROCK! This little vegan company is run by the lovely Christine Wagner, a crafty lady who combines her talents and passions for jewelry making, graphic design, and animal activism to create some hella kick-ass jewelry. The jewelry is fun and each of the wonderful designs promotes positive messages of animal compassion.
Christine has been vegan for about fifteen years, she has several adorable fur-balls in her life which are a source for her inspiration, as well as her obvious love for all things vegan. She also volunteers at a local animal sanctuary every week and donates a portion of her sales to the Sasha Farm Animal Sanctuary. AND she takes custom orders. Super rad yes? :)

I am fortunate enough to own one of Design Specimen's lovely necklaces and let me tell you how much I love it! The pieces are beautifully crafted and the quality is superb, you can tell they are made with love, and they feel like they will last forever. The lettering and images are super crisp and clean and the work is sturdy. The messages are powerful yet enchantingly subtle--which is sometimes nice to go for the more subtle approach when it comes to animal rights instead of throwing it in people's faces (not that I don't like doing that as well ;)). I feel like you could wear a Design Specimen necklace and get all sorts of people compliment you as you walk down the street, striking up kind conversations about animal rights to promote the compassionate lifestyle with dignity and love.
The other thing I love about Design Specimen is it suits anyone and everyone of all walks of life. The designs are pretty and intricate and beautifully simple while still provoking a powerful message. The chain and colour of the metal is soft and calming and pretty and sophisticated. You could easily dress it up or dress it down according to any look you wanted. Anyone could wear these and get away with it and look fantastic doing so!

I love my Design Specimen necklace! It hangs beautifully, it's nice and light, and it compliments any outfit. I love the font, I love the little details, I love the little heart, I love Design Specimen!
Really, I think every vegan needs a Design Specimen necklace (or five) in their life. So what are you waiting for? Go check out her website and online shops (either directly on her website or through etsy) and get ready to fall in love!

☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

Change your perception, change your attitude, love your life! xo

Take whatever comes your way. Just go with the flow and use whatever the universe delivers instead of resisting it, no matter what it may bring. Always see the positive side and make use of any situation, ordeal, or mishap. Remember that everything happens for a reason, there is always a lesson, and there is always a positive side and outlook. ;) xo
Extend your Compassion for Animals. We disconnect ourselves so much from animals, which is why we have so many industries that abuse animals (meat, dairy, wool, animal-testing, fashion, honey, hunting, zoos, circuses, and so forth). Take some time with animals and realize that they DO have souls. A lovely online friend of mine shared this beautiful article that will absolutely inspire you and touch your heart (http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/stories-that-prove-animals-have-souls). So connect with animals and remember that they are living breathing emotional creatures with souls of their own!
Take up a 30 Day Challenge! Of whatever you want! Make it something productive to better your health, your happiness, your Self. Challenges are fun because they commit us to something and keep us motivated. So commit yourself to a 30 Day Challenge, whether it's picking up "The Magic" and doing those exercises, jumping onto a vegan diet (my Going Vegan Guide is coming out in the next week!), an exercise routine, doing good deeds and acts of kindness every day, taking on an artistic project, orrrr, revisiting my "30 Day Self Challenge" right here on the blog! ;)
Correct Negative Thoughts… The Law of Attraction is always in motion (whether you believe in it or not), your thoughts become things, what you think about comes about. Be aware of your thoughts and words, and if you say something negative or unfavourable, correct it with words of positivity. You can always correct your thoughts, that's the fun part! So catch yourself, be aware, give thanks instead of complaining, and choose how you want your day and life to be.
Learn to Cook!  Befriend your kitchen! I remember I used to despise cooking, yet it was something that I wanted to learn to do and actually feel motivated to do. Low and behold, the Universe kinda kicked me into it after I got an allergy test done a short time after I went vegan. Your kitchen is your friend! There is nothing more rewarding than making your own food, knowing what it is you are actually eating, and putting genuine love and care into food preparation. Plus, you can make it fun! Play some awesome tunes, dance around, make it your zen time.
Make faces in the mirror! Say whaaaaat? Stop taking yourself so seriously! And what better way to learn to do that then to poke fun at yourself. I'm serious now, go and make faces in your mirror! Because if you can't put yourself up to doing this then you are definitely taking yourself and life too seriously. ;)
"Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing." ~ Denis Waitley Take a chance, jump on opportunities. You'll never fully embrace and experience life to its fullest unless you learn to actually Live!

Have a beautiful day, week, life! Much Love from me to you!
Create a Nice Day! xo

☺ Lessons from Albert Einstein ☺

So I saw this from my lovely sister who shared a fellow blogger's post on Facebook, such a blogger who'd posted it after seeing someone else's blog post, who saw someone else's blogpost, who'd… well, taken inspiration from the brilliant Albert Einstein. I decided to share this myself as well, and add a couple more lessons he was so brilliant to teach.
Before I list off these inspiring life lessons I'd also like to add this: use the man himself as inspiration! What I mean by that is that Albert Einstein challenged our way of thinking, he challenged different ideas, concepts, and was utterly brilliant. He wasn't afraid to be different, to challenge the norm, or to just go for it. So be adventurous and do what feels right instead of following the "norm" of today's society. Because, let's face it, there is plenty wrong with today's society that is worth challenging and doing it yourself.

Now, on to Life Lessons from Albert Einstein:

1. Follow Your Curiosity: “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

2. Perseverance is Priceless: “It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”

3. Focus on the Present: “Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”

4. Imagination is Powerful: “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

5. Make Mistakes: “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”

6. Live in the Moment: “I never think of the future – it comes soon enough.”

7. Create Value: “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”

8. Don’t Be Repetitive: “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

9. Knowledge Comes From Experience: “Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience.”

10. Learn the Rules and Then Play Better: “You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.”

11. Become a Vegetarian: "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."

12. Widening our circle of Compassion: "Our task must be to free ourselves . . . by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty."

Do you have any other favourite Albert Einstein quotes? :)

☆ What's Going On: What’s Wrong With Wool? ☆

Knits are in! And they are everywhere. Cute mittens, adorable beanie hats, leg-warmers, those fleece-lined Wool Jackets. They are everywhere. Which means WOOL is everywhere.

Now, have you taken any thought into the creature of which that wool came? Probably not.

Sheep have become hugely wronged and hugely over-looked. They are treated as nothing more than wool-making machines.
What is wrong with this picture?

Wool comes from sheep, Correct? Yes. Taking that wool doesn't harm the sheep right? Wrong!

Many people don't consider that there is any injustice done at all in the production of wool. Well, there is! And here's the reality for you to consider.

I strongly encourage that you watch this video:
http://www.peta.org/tv/videos/graphic/326096931001.aspx

It made me cry. It is so incredibly sad but it is something that you must watch. The injustices we do to animals is insane and so sadistic, cruel, and wrong.

If you don't want to watch the video or have something against PETA, I'm none to judge. Here's some reading material instead ~.^...

First off, let's think about it for a moment. Sheep have their naturally produced wool for a reason, don't they? Yes! It's to protect them from weather extremes. And they produce just enough to keep their bodies either cozy warm or cool in the heat. We are stripping it from them! How would you feel if someone took away your cozy winter jacket in the middle of winter? Yes, it does grow back but most sheep don't really ever get to keep their coat at all.

The above becomes a small factor, however, when you consider that shearing those sheep has its own slue of horrors. And, as with any mass production where animals are involved, the welfare of the animals gets disregarded and neglected.

Most wool will come from Australia (about 50% of it) or New Zealand, but there are still sheep farms for wool all over the world. The problem with most of these farms is, again, the large scale means intensive sheep farming. NOT good for the animals.

Workers are usually paid by volume vs. than by the hour, equalling a disregard for animal welfare. Sheep end up being routinely punched, kicked, and cut during that shearing process.

These farms are responsible for the degradation of natural waterways and land habitats. They are responsible for greenhouse gases, such as methane, as well as they are released into the atmosphere. So certainly NOT Earth-friendly!

140 million sheep each year (in Australia and New Zealand alone) undergo a procedure called "mulesing." **(see below for more information)

Within weeks of birth, lambs' ears are hole-punched, their tails are chopped off, and the males are castrated without anesthetics.

Male lambs are castrated when they are between 2 and 8 weeks old, either by making an incision and cutting their testicles out or with a rubber ring used to cut off blood supply—one of the most painful methods of castration possible.

Every year, hundreds of lambs die before the age of 8 weeks from exposure or starvation, and mature sheep die every year from disease, lack of shelter, and neglect.

After their wool has been taken the Sheep are sent off to the Middle East for slaughter.

They will travel in overcrowded, disease-ridden ships for weeks to months. Here, they will have little access to Food or Water. They will suffer through weather extremes, where the temperatures on board can exceed 100°F. Many will become stuck in their own feces, unable to move, and will become ill because of it. Many others are smothered or trampled to death by other sheep.

The suffering sheep that survive the journey are dragged off the ships, loaded onto trucks, and dragged by their ears and legs to often unregulated slaughterhouses.

Their bodies and throats are slit while they are still conscious and without pain-killers.

Starting to sound like the horrors of Factory Farming? Absolutely! As you can see, Sheep are certainly not exempt from similar horrors for their wool.

** Mulesing Debate: **

There is some debate whether mulesing is better for the sheep or worse.
What is it?
It is a procedure done when lambs are about 2 months old. Shears are used to slice dinner-plate-sized chunks of skin off the backsides of live animals, usually without anesthetics. Scar tissue then forms and the wool never grows back.
Why is it done?
With no wool in that area the chance lessens of blowflies laying eggs in the moist,poo-stained wool. If flies do lay eggs, maggots emerge and the sheep becomes 'flystruck'', where the sheep is slowly eaten away from the outside.
"Flystruck" sheep can be saved by removing the wool from the affected area--which is done by cutting the area with shears or scissors-- and treated with a chemical powder, spray, or liquid. The sheep is then closely monitored until pronounced fit to return to the flock.

Why it's InHumane:
It is said that the procedure takes a few seconds and that the lambs usually recover fairly quickly. However, it obviously still causes the sheep pain. They bleed. They have to heal. How would you like to have shears on your backside? Without painkillers to boot.
Also, when it comes to large-scale farming proper care is often neglected.

Wouldn't it be better to let sheep just Be? To not use them to produce wool? Is it worth their suffering to have a "fashionable" item?

Even if you're unsure on the Mulesing debate, the animals still live upsetting lives as described further above. Again, it is a problem with any mass production, especially when it comes to animals. Sheep are still soaked in pesticides and insecticides. They can be chocked full of anti-biotics and other chemicals. The bottom line is this: They are NOT Happy animals living this way!

Finding out where your wool products came from can also be a tricky ordeal.
You know now that most wool comes from Australia and New Zealand, but most wool is also routed to China, Italy, or other countries for processing, so the product labeling will rarely be a good indicator as to where it was originally sourced. There are lots of other Sheep farms all over the globe, many of which have the same sadistic approach.
Don't be easily fooled by "Organic wool" either. From what I have found the requirements are vague and questionable, not unlike Organic Meat and Dairy.

I'm not saying that "humane" sheep farms don't exist. But they are hard to come by and unless you actually go visit the farms themselves you never really know if they are happy sheep or not.
My opinion? You are better to go without wool.

Animals are not human commodities. They are real, living, breathing, emotional creatures! We are not better than them because we are human.

I have made this point before, and I will again. Would you treat your pet at home the way we treat these animals? Would you put them through these same arduous procedures for the sake of fashion? Probably not. Because you consider That cruel. I will tell you again, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!

Sheep have amazing characteristics, not unlike your pet. They are intelligent and have problem-solving abilities. They are able to recognize faces for years and can differentiate emotional states through facial characteristics. They are gentle animals that, like all creatures, feel pain, fear, loneliness, love, and happiness.

Is it worth essentially having blood on your hands for fashion? Animal cruelty does not have to be involved for the sake of fashion. There are so many vegan alternatives out there.

Be Compassionate. Choose to be Wool Free.
