10 Undesirable Places That Have Been Made Beautiful
People all over the world are doing good and changing the world, volunteering and working along side their cities to rebuild places like landfills and abandoned railways into useable green places again. Click the link to check out 10 places that have been made beautiful again! :)

Australia to commit to fishing responsibly for canned tuna
Australia will soon become the second market in the world to commit to fishing responsibly for canned tuna thanks to GreenPeace's campaign and awesome people like you!

All-Vegan Grocery store opens third location in Germany
Awesome!

Police Officer Uses Day Off to Save Old Stray Dog
A police officer and citizen spent their day tracking down a stray dog in an area where they'd seen it roaming the streets looking through dumpsters. They finally found and rescued the dog from the streets and brought it to a vet where the dog spent the next ten days being healed. The dog was 15 pounds underweight, had a nasty ear infection, an intestinal disorder, and severe bad teeth. His matted, oil-soaked coat, was beyond repair, and it had to be shaved off. But this dog was saved and given a good home thanks to ordinary people.

Duck Rescues
Everywhere people are helping ducks!
In Bellevue, Washington, a parks worker came to the aid of a distressed mother duck, who had been hovering near a grate that her ducklings had fallen into.
Nine ducklings were rescued out of a fountain with too little water, thanks to some kind-hearted passerbys.
A passerby and his daughter saw a mother duck and a dozen ducklings and realized that another was stuck in a storm drain. Firefighters from Mantua, New Jersey, came to the thirteenth duckling’s aid.
You don’t always need emergency personnel to make a duckling’s day. Ten baby ducks were safely brought out of a sewer drain in a California community by the residents.
Traffic in LA came to a halt so one little duckling could make its way to safety.
A flock of ducklings are able to make it onto the sidewalk after someone gives them a step up.
Sometimes mother duck doesn’t know best: after one led her eight duckling into rough waters in Sydney, Australia, all were rescued by a helpful human.

Kid takes on ocean pollution, invents garbage-eating sea monster
The oceans are so full of garbage that there are islands of the stuff massing. Fortunately, 19 year old, Boyan Slat has invented the "Ocean Cleanup Array" that collects garbage using ocean currents.
The project is still undergoing testing, with no word of whether it will ultimately work as proposed — something Slat himself makes abundantly clear. We're still hoping for the best, however. If you'd like to get involved, Slat and his team are looking for recruits and donations here.

The Guardian of Golden Gate
The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic landmark of San Francisco, drawing millions of visitors each year. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most popular suicide destinations in the world. California Highway Patrol Sergeant, Kevin Briggs, has saved hundreds of people from jumping over the famous railings in his 26 years of patrolling the bridge through his compassion and dedication - a true everyday hero.

Costa Rica Bans Hunting
The Costa Rican Congress voted unanimously and the president signed a wonderful law, one that we can only dream of passing in the U.S.: a ban on hunting. The ban has teeth: a fine of up to $3,000 for hunters who break the law.

Nature's Gate Ends Sales in China
Nature's Gate just became the fourth company to pull out of the Chinese market until the country stops requiring tests on animals for cosmetics. They are joining companies Paul Mitchell, Dermalogica, and Pangea Organics that have also all pulled their products out of China in order to save animals' lives, and many more companies, such as Urban Decay and NYX, have refused to sell in China until the animal testing requirements are lifted.

Protecting Wildlife with 5 New National Monuments
President Obama has just protected key wild places and wildlife by designating FIVE new national monuments.
The new national monuments include the Rio Grande del Norte in New Mexico, 240,000+ acres of rugged, wide open plains, volcanic cones, and steep canyons with rivers tucked away in their depths that provide critical habitat for wildlife like bighorn sheep, elk, river otters, cougars, and more.

Success! Public Lands Safe from Oil and Gas Drilling
Public lands in Wyoming and Utah embody the unrestrained beauty of American wilderness. Thanks to the effort of conservationists and activists, including thousands from the Care2 community, public lands in these two states are now better protected against the pollution of the oil and gas industry. This victory comes after the 10th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals rejected the energy industry’s attempt to force the Secretary of the Interior to issue oil and gas leases on public lands.

10 year old boy saves Jackson the cat from bullies.
Wendell Overton, a ten-year-old boy of Manteo, made the world a better place on March 12. Jackson the cat was being tortured by a group of boys. Courageous Wendell rescued Jackson and took him home to his mother, who called the Outer Banks SPCA. Jackson is doing great and will be available for adoption soon! Thank you, Wendell, for being so brave and doing the right thing!

739 Miles of U.S. Coastline Protected for Loggerhead Sea Turtles
After five years of delay, the federal government finally proposed to protect more than 739 miles of critical habitat for threatened loggerhead sea turtles on their nesting beaches along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf coasts. These sea turtles face serious threats to their long-term survival from drowning in fishing nets, loss of nesting beaches due to coastal development and sea-level rise. The proposal spans from North Carolina to Mississippi and encompasses 84 percent of all known nesting areas.

Circus Animals Get A Break In Slovenia
Slovenia recently banned the use of wild animals in circuses, making it the fourth European Union nation to impose such a ban!
In the United States, at least 55 communities have some ban or restriction in place on the use of animals in circuses or for elephant rides. In December, the City Commission of Hallandale Beach, Florida voted to ban bullhooks, bucking straps and other cruel devices used to train and dominate animals to perform tricks for entertainment.

European Union Halts Cosmetics Testing On Animals
As of this week, the European Union now bans the sale of cosmetics that were tested on animals, even if the testing happened outside the EU. This is a hugely exciting development in worldwide efforts to stop cruel experiments on animals!

Hainan Airlines maintains its ban on shipping primates to laboratories.
More good news on the animal testing front! Because no China-based airline is willing to get involved in this cruel practice, primate experimenters have no easy or feasible route to import primates to the United States from China. So less monkeys in laboratories for testing! Hoorah!

Good News for Sharks!
Delegates at this month's Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) voted to regulate trade in several threatened species, including the oceanic whitetip shark, porbeagle shark, and three species of hammerheads. This is a step in the right direction for conservation and protecting the plummeting numbers of shark populations over the last two decades.

Earth Hour success
Once again this year's Earth Hour, hosted by WWF, was a huge success, with hundreds of millions of people in 7000 cities and 150 countries contributing to this global movement and showing that we care and are banding together to protect the planet.

WWF successfully bans ivory trade in Thailand
Elephants are poached for their ivory, and in Thailand, the ivory trade has been the source of their demise. In February, World Wildlife Fund launched a campaign on Causes asking people to sign a petition that would influence the Prime Minister of Thailand to ban the ivory trade. More than 126,000 people signed and on March 4, 2013, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced that her administration would take crucial steps to make trading ivory in Thailand a thing of the past!

Hundreds of Baby Seals Saved from Slaughter
The annual seal hunt on Hay Island was called off, for the second year in a row. The Hay Island hunt usually kills a few hundred seals each year. There are still hundreds of thousands bludgeoned to death off the Newfoundland coast so the push still needs to go further, however this is still a huge victory towards the end of this annual seal hunt. If you want to do more than you can boycott Canadian seafood, and sign petitions. (Check out this article regarding the hunt:)

Whole Foods instates mandatory labelling of GMOs
Alexis Baden-Mayer (the Political Director of the Organic Consumers Association) launched a campaign in October of 2012 asking Whole Foods to label food products that contain GMOs. Over a few months, more than 16,000 signatures from people all over the world have been collected. This week, that support turned into a big win! The New York Times reported that Whole Foods, a grocer with more than 3,000 stores worldwide, would institute mandatory labelling of all food products that contain GMOs by 2018.

Ron Finley plants vegetable gardens in South Central LA
South Central LA is taken over with fast-food joints, liquor stores and vacant lots, where most people can only afford to eat the cheap fast food around them. Ron Finley got tired of living in a food dessert and decided to change things. He plants gardens in abandoned lots, traffic medians, and along the curbs to offer an alternative to fast food in a community where "the drive-thrus are killing more people than the drive-bys."
This story is not only inspiring because an amazing person decided to change things, but because when he first started, the city gave him a warrant to remove the garden from the curb. Thanks to media and a petition at change.org, he was able to keep the garden and continue forth with this amazing project.
Ron Finley continues to grow a nourishing food culture in South Central L.A.’s food desert by planting the seeds and tools for healthy eating and inviting anyone who wishes to take part, volunteer, and become the change. Talk about someone doing good and spreading good!
I highly recommend watching the video, it'll inspire you completely! http://www.ted.com/talks/ron_finley_a_guerilla_gardener_in_south_central_la.html

Justin Timberlake Brings us down to Veganville on SNL
Good news? Hell ya! This is a huge step for veganism everywhere. Saturday Night Live is such a largely watched platform and J.T. is the perfect influential force. It's great to see the Vegan lifestyle make it to such a large spotlight. We'll see how many more people want to go vegan after this. ;)
