♥ Wednesday Favorites: Skinny Bitch ♥

After yesterday's blog post "You Are What You Eat" this is certainly what was to come next ...and yes I did plan it out this way ;)

I get the question often enough asking for health and diet tips. Well, I started somewhere too and my journey led me to two wonderful ladies, Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, the geniuses behind Skinny Bitch. All the answers to all your questions are likely in here. ;)

"If you can't take one more day of self-loathing, you're ready to hear the truth: You cannot keep shoveling the same crap into your mouth every day and expect to lose weight."

"Skinny Bitch" Book: I think their description fits best; "a no-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous."
This book is pure genius! It's a super fun and easy read. They are forward and brutally honest, with smart-mouths and plenty of sass thrown in for good measure. They'll tell you what to stop eating and exactly WHY.
I haven't ready their other books yet but can't wait to ^_^.
Seriously, if you want to get your diet on track this is a MUST READ!

Skinny Bitch DVDs: Once I read the book I HAD to get the DVDs. They are great fun and kick my ass every time! Rory and Kim are super fun fabulous women with so much humour and love that make the DVDs totally enjoyable. They are tough and they will tone you up like nothing else! My favorites are definitely the "Body" and "Boot Camp" ones, but their "Booty Bounce" Dance one is always a fun change-up in your exercise routine ;)

To add to the already amazingness that is "Skinny Bitch", these girls have an awesome website. They offer plenty of support and initiative to keep you on track. Trust me when I say, you will not regret these buys!

Having a healthy diet is key to feeling better all-around. And diet without exercise usually equals a big fat failure. Remember, when one thing is out of whack, everything soon follows. Keep your body healthy and you will feel happy and fabulous!

Lastly I would like to add their own little motto because I think it is so wonderful, positive, and true...

"BTW: A Skinny Bitch is someone who enjoys food, eats well, and loves her body as a result. It has nothing to do with how much you weigh or what size you are! Skinny Bitches come in all beautiful shapes and sizes!"

Peace & Love

  1. I might need to try those DVDs. I've been meaning to look into them since you first mentioned them a long time ago. Do you need dumbbells for the Body video?

  3. This was the book that sealed the vegan deal for me. Excellent. It made me laugh because of the vocabulary, and it made me cry because of the content. I read it in 2 days, but that's only because I had to put it down to go to sleep ;) Definitely recommended! It's really eye-opening and enlightening...and I still use it for reference from time to time because it also has a great section in the back for vegan friendly shops and websites! I want to check out their cookbooks too! AND the DVD's at some point...these girls are badass!

  6. im from central europe and here (at least in country where i live) is a big criticism about Skinny Bitch purely because of the vocabulary and that veganism interfers with the traditions, so people criticizing it jumps into conclusions that vegans eat grass or whatever.
do you have some tips how to deal with those people?

    1. I have heard people complain about the Skinny Bitch books because of the way they are written. I thought they were just sassy and forward but I can understand how people could get offended by the dialogue.
There are plenty of other amazing vegan books and, even better, documentaries that open people's eyes to the importance of veganism.
Really, at the end of the day, just stick by your own beliefs. If people are going to say that vegans eat grass then you can tell them otherwise. Pretty much all the vegans I've ever come across speak about how much being vegan actually opened up their world for food, they discovered so many more amazing foods they had no idea existed, became healthier, and felt better--and certainly weren't sacrificing taste or amazing yummy food :)
Lots of people just don't know or prefer to be ignorant. Most of them will come around if lead by example but don't be preachy or pushy. :)
