{this moment} - a Friday ritual. A photo (or few) capturing moments from the week. Simple, special, extraordinary moments. Moments I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Last weekend we had a fun day checking out the Kaslo May Days. Lots of fun with friends, watching skateboarders, logger sports, and just plain having some fun in the sun. :)

It's been a busy last couple weeks, but never too busy to stop and enjoy the moment. This week (since I also missed last week's "This Moment" post) I'm deciding to share a couple of my favourite moments lately. I deem this, a Collection of Awesome Moments! ;)

☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

 We're taking back Mondays!!!
"Motivational Mondays" are fabulous tips to get you excited and pumped for the week!
Feeling low? Moody? Down on life? Well, that's what these posts are for! Time to feel awesome again and get some Positivity rolling! Just because it's Monday doesn't mean you can't have fun, smile, and enjoy Today! Apply these tips to your week and try to tell me that you don't start to see an improvement in your life! ;)
It's all about You! Change your perception, change your attitude, love your life! xo

☺ Teach someone about the Law of Attraction! It's a beautiful thing to share this information, to tell someone that they can ask the Universe for whatever it is they want and they can receive it. Of course people may think you're crazy at first, but tell them to watch "The Secret" and/or give them some facts--like that our thoughts have a frequency and are magnetic, and so is everything else, so what you Think about you are drawing to you. You know, things like that, give them the push to look into it themselves. ;)
☺ Admit that you're not always right. I'll admit it, I'm stubborn as hell and when I think I'm right I really think I'm right. In recent years I learned to accept I'm not always right. I'm still stubborn. I still sometimes really believe I'm right. This past week alone I've been wrong on three separate occasions. I was able to laugh about it and not take it seriously, but there was a time I'd get all embarrassed and shameful, but such emotions serve no purpose. Learn to laugh things off and to stop being stubborn. Learn the truth before firmly saying you're right about something.
☺ Give yourself a Pep talk! When you're feeling low or need a boost, go talk to yourself in the mirror; ask what the real issue is and tell yourself what you need to hear. Take great care of yourself and say what you forgive yourself for and what you love yourself for. Tell yourself how awesome you are, how you can do anything you want and that you deserve all good things.
☺ Chase your kitties around…  or, in other words, spend more time with your animal companions. ;) Animals teach us so much, they are a wonderful reflection of our moods and can fill us up with happiness and love. So be sure to take extra time this week to spend some good quality time with your animal friends, talking to them, playing with them and sharing some love. :)
☺ What's meant to be will Be… If a plan falls through remember that it wasn't meant to be and that that has to fall apart to make room for something better. If that seems-to-be perfect relationship or situation or event simply doesn't happen, remember that it's not what is meant to be in your life at this moment. It may not always be clear at first, but as long as you stay on a positive frequency then the better will always come around to show you the answer and enrich your life with something positively amazing and meant-to-be. So always stay positive and Know that all will Be the way it is meant to.
☺ Skip down the streets and dance in the rain! I had the pleasure of doing both of these things a couple times this week, and let me tell you how quickly you'll be laughing and smiling and feeling good! Let loose, be silly, learn not to take things so seriously, and embrace childlike behaviour. If you're feeling tired, or if a friend you're with is feeling tired, lock arms and start skipping! Guaranteed to wake you up and make yourself and them smile!
☺ Take Advice from a Tree… "Stand tall and proud. Go Out on a Limb. Remember Your Roots. Drink plenty of water. Be content with your natural beauty. Enjoy the View."

Have a beautiful day, week, life! Much Love from me to you!
Create a Nice Day! xo

☺ Being Me, Being Ageless! ☺

Okay, so this is really a super short post, but I began writing this out on tumblr as a little expression of gratitude that I had to get out, but then, as I continued to write, I realized that I wanted to share this on the blog after all. ;)

So, my expression of deep Gratitude today…

I just have to say that I love being ageless! And being the lovely person that I am today--accepting all parts of myself!

I can be an adult. I can be totally down to earth, intelligent, "wise", and full of life experiences that I've learned ridiculous amounts from. And I can continue to grow and learn from all the bumps along the road.

I can still be a child; playing, drawing, watching cartoons, rolling down grassy fields, loving cute stuffed animals and throwing pictures all over my walls.

I can be silly and ridiculous; laughing and dancing in the pouring rain, running through sprinklers, be open to the moment, go on adventures. And I can poke fun at myself.

I can sit and meditate... and do yoga. ;) And take peaceful walks or sit by the lake in silence, listening to the sounds of nature and reflecting.

I am the healthiest I've ever been in my life and have way more energy than when I was younger! And I am the happiest I have ever been!

I love music; from Machine Head and Slipknot, to Flyleaf, to Dub FX, to A Perfect Circle, to P!nk, to Die Mannequin, and everything in between!
I'm a dork, and I love that I'm writing and drawing again! And I love that I'm back to watching anime shows. ;) Like I said, accepting all parts of myself instead of shying away from them.

Life is just beautiful, and I am so grateful to have accepted all the quirky and lovely parts of who I am that I denied for years. I hope everyone can do the same thing that I have, because life truly opens up when you do. ;)

Much Love and Gratitude! xo

❀ Meet Vegans! ❀

These lovely "interviews" are with other fellow vegans, to inspire and share their stories and lifestyles and love for all things vegan. Oh, and to prove we don't eat grass and have a ton of kick-ass fun! ;)

***************************

Meet Kylie!

Name: Kylie

Age: 33

Country: USA

Vegan Since: April 2011

Pets? Two rescue dogs: Henry & Willow

A bit about yourself: I'm a happily married dog-mom living it up in Los Angeles. I like to embroider and make things.
What did your diet look like pre-vegan?
It was pretty awful. I ate too much fast food and way too much processed food.
What does your diet look like now? Any fun new foods you had no idea existed until becoming vegan?
I still eat out a lot, but luckily I have a lot of vegan places nearby. I eat MUCH better, lots of fresh veggies and grains. Kale and quinoa were new to me when I became vegan and I love them both.
What is your favourite food or meal to eat now?
I love sauteed greens. I use veggie broth and garlic to cook them up. soooo good.

What made you become vegan?
A couple different reasons. One being that I have always loved animals and felt a connection to them. Once I took an honest look at consuming them and supporting the exploitation of them, I just couldn't do it anymore. The second reason was my health. Like I said, I ate like crap and I knew a vegan diet would be much healthier for me.
How long was the transition, and were there any slip-ups?
There was no transition from me. I went from omnivore to vegan overnight basically. At first, I committed to trying it for one week. About half way through that week I decided it was something I wanted to stick to. I have not had any intentional slip ups, but I have eaten things that I found out later may have contained some dairy.
How do you feel since going vegan? (changes in your health, mood, body, etc.)
I absolutely have more energy. I used to struggle through the afternoons to stay awake, but now my energy levels stay pretty even throughout the day. My skin is also brighter.
Biggest challenge about making the switch? How did you get through it?
When I became vegan I didn't live in a place where there were many restaurant options so I was still eating a lot of processed vegan food. Now I am surrounded by healthy restaurants and farmers markets, so it makes life much easier!
Do you have any other vegans in your life? (family, significant other, friends, roommates, etc.) How do they handle your veganism and how do you handle them?
I have vegan friends, but they all live far away. My husband recently made the switch, so it's nice to have a partner in crime now! Luckily all my local friends are awesome and love eating vegan with me. :)

How do you deal with ignorant/annoying/difficult people and questions about your decision?
I have yet to face any really ignorant or annoying people. I do get asked a lot of questions and I just answer honestly.

Favourite Vegan product? (whether it's food, beauty, clothing, etc.)
My sexy vegan boots!!
Favourite part about being vegan?
I feel good about doing something kind for animals, the planet and myself.
Any tips for others thinking of going vegan? It's not as difficult as it seems! With all the blogs, books and websites out there, anyone can easily become vegan these days! If you are toying with the idea, commit to a week or two of being completely vegan. You will notice that you feel so much better after only a few days and it makes the choice to stick with it that much easier. :)

☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

Life is absolutely fantastic, fun, and exciting! The fact it's Monday makes no difference at all--remember that! Live today instead of waiting for tomorrow. Seize the moment! Every moment! Let's hear a "Rah Rah Rah!" for today and every day!!! ;)

☺ Set good intentions: Repeat after me: "All Good things are coming to me today. All my desires will be met today. Magic and miracles are coming my way today. I am going to have an amazing day!" Say this at the start of every single day, set positive intentions so that you receive positive experiences and surprises.
☺ Be Selfless and Be Selfish. Being selfish often has a bad rap, and being selfless is often associated with some level of sacrifice, but both are equally important. The beautiful part is that when you are in line with your true self, when you are living your life in harmony, the two are one in the same. There is nothing wrong with being selfish and there is nothing wrong with being selfless. By being selfish, as in being kind to yourself and doing things for yourself, you automatically do good to others--and at which point you are also doing those selfless acts from a place of honesty and love rather than obligation or higher sense of calling. Learn to be selfish and you will become selfless.
☺ Live in the Moment! Because we often forget to do this, I like to do a reminder every so often; live in the moment! Why? Because life happens in the here and now, emotions are felt in the here and now, happiness is experienced only in the here and now. Try not to let your mind get caught up in the future or left behind in the past as that is often where stress arises from. Stay grounded, stay present.
☺ Take time every day to do something silly! Because silliness makes the world go round and if you can't laugh at yourself then what can you laugh at? Learn to let go, have fun, and stop caring what others think! Be yourself, act a-fool, be spontaneous, do things out of your ordinary. Be silly and have fun!
☺ Believe in your Goals! For those that don't believe you can ask the universe and receive, start believing! Set yourself a goal and believe by the end of the week you will receive it. For instance, last week I noticed I needed some more money in my bank account so I told myself that by the end of the week I was going to have $1000.00 to transfer from my paypal account. At the end of the week I had $1024.00. Ask, Believe, Receive. ;)
☺ Change up your music playlist! Like anything, it's fun to change things up, get some different creative juices flowing. Fill up your iPod or music player with a ton of new music you've never heard before. Ask friends for suggestions, or trade iPods altogether!
☺ "Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around." - Henry David Thoreau. Life is what you make it, you are who you decide. Your beliefs and values are all a part of that greater whole and by living those beliefs you make a difference in your own life and the life of others.

Have a beautiful day, week, life! Much Love from me to you!
Create a Nice Day! xo

☺ Stop Taking Yourself so Seriously! ☺

I think one of the best pieces of advice I was ever give was this: "stop taking yourself so seriously!"
Why do I love this piece of advice so much? Because I think it's a blatant wake-up call that most of us need. When things in life get difficult, when bumps appear along our paths, when we have those days when everything seems to go wrong, we usually end up with some sort of mental breakdown. Then we tend to start asking far too many questions and asking why why why. Asking why can be a good thing, to take a lesson from an unfavourable ordeal, but we tend to over think things and begin to dwell instead of releasing when we should. We also tend to focus on the negatives and so we bring about more negative things to feel bad about--remember the law of attraction's spiral effect?
Well, this scenario happened to me almost exactly three years ago, when absolutely everything was going wrong. What was worse was that I was just waiting for the next thing to go wrong, wondering what it would be. I was expecting things to go wrong! Because that was the kind of day I was having. I knew nothing about the law of attraction back then and was just beginning to realize the power of positivity--clearly not quite there yet though. I ranted about it on Facebook, and I received all sorts of comments of people trying to make me feel better and relating to the spiralling bad day and repeated breakdown because of it. Looking back, really it was a "poor me" move, but I do understanding feeling the need to vent. Now I understand that venting and dwelling on negativities is terrible, but now I also understand that spiral effect and am able to stop it from happening. Anyway, I'm getting to a point, I promise. ;) One of the comments that was left was by a good friend of mine who gave me some wise words that really resonated with me…

"In order for the mind to re - program it must "breakdown". Then begins the period where you get to consciously decide what the mind does and doesn't need.
The mind is typically occupied by fear and preservation.
Which space is your mind currently living in. Now or not now........... ;)
lmao.........Stop taking yourself so seriously."

The comment was helpful in several ways, not only because there was great insight on the benefits of a breakdown, but the way it ended really struck me. "Stop taking yourself so seriously." It was one of those wake up calls and I have honestly been doing my best to live my life that way ever since.

What is the point of over-analyzing, over-thinking, and dwelling? What is the point in taking yourself so seriously all the time? Isn't it far better to ease up, take things as they come, and enjoy the moment? There's no point or purpose in allowing yourself to get so wound up about things that you will probably forget about in a week. It took me a while to learn important lessons about positivity, about going with the flow, living in the moment, and, well, not taking things so seriously, so I want to remind everyone of patience in your journey and, really, to just go with the flow. It is not worth feeling down on yourself if you are not where you want to be yet in your mood and state of mind. Remind yourself that everything works itself out in the end and to always find a reason to smile. Let yourself go and have a little fun. Your journey to happiness is as beautiful as you choose to make it, it doesn't have to be this intense serious voyage. Yes, you will experience amazing transformations within your soul, but these are wonderful changes that you shouldn't be serious about. Just because you are becoming "enlightened" doesn't mean you have to be this "calm" "zen" "hippie" all the time, trying to be wise and insightful. Learn to laugh at yourself, at your life, at all the silly moments. Create silly moments. You are allowed to stumble, tumble, cry, and then smile and laugh all in the same day. And learning to laugh at yourself is one of the best things you will ever learn. You are "waking up" and that is something to be happy about no matter how many bumps you encounter along the way. Life is not suffering, life is not serious. Life is happy, joyous, beautiful, fun, ridiculous and fantastic if you choose for it to be.
So stop taking yourself so seriously and enjoy the moment! ;)

☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

Ah crap! It's Monday. Doesn't that suck? Hmm, well what to do about that?…
How about mope about it for the rest of the day? Complaining would be a good idea. Seeing everything negatively around you sounds marvellous! Frowning followed by more pouting will definitely help. Hmm, what else?... Talking about how much life sucks and what sucky things are going on right now. Yup, that sounds like a good one. Feeling sorry for yourself perhaps? Definitely talk about how much you hate your job, I hear that one is super duper helpful. Getting frustrated and agitated also sounds like it could be fun. Oh wait, don't forget to complain that it's Monday!

We could do all of that or…

☺ Prepare Yourself…  You never know what the day will hold but if you start off your day by dreading it then chances are you are going to have a tremendously terrible day. When you wake up in the morning, take a moment and arm yourself with positivity. Announce and thank the Universe (or God, or fairies, or whatever you feel like) for a fantastic day and feel as genuinely grateful as possible, as if your day has already ended and you are thanking the Universe for that amazing day you just had. You'll be surprised by what sneaky little wonders may magically pop into your day.
☺ Choose Happy Motions… I hear that smiling is really helpful. And laughing. Oh yes indeed. You should do both of those as much as possible at all times. Even if people look at you weird, at least you'll be the one having fun. ;)
☺ Enjoy the Moment! You will never get this moment of your life back ever again, so don't you think it's worth taking a step back and truly appreciating it instead of taking it for granted?
☺ Count Your Rainbows, Not Your Thunderstorms! Stop complaining, stop complaining, stop complaining! Yes, life isn't always butterflies and rainbows, but do you know why? It's because of your stinky attitude and your choice not to acknowledge all the beauty that exists around you. It's far too automatic for us to complain about the things in our life rather than give thanks and see how truly blessed we are. So I'm going to say it again and again until it starts to stick in your head: give thanks instead of complaining! There is always always always things to be grateful for. Remember all the amazing things currently in your life and talk about those instead. (See "The Power of Gratitude" for more).
☺ Be the Optimist! Be the one around the swarm of frowns that is smiling. Just because you may be surrounded by unpleasant people or be in a not particularly thrilling situation is no reason not to still be optimistic and smiling. You get a choice. Always. By choosing to be the one that is smiling and laughing and being happy then you will draw more positive people and experiences into your day. It all starts with a choice to smile!
☺ Cue the Happy Tune! Decide on a fun little hum, phrase, or little song that you can start singing in your head (or out loud) whenever you start to feel the Monday blues creeping upon you. Let it be your reminder to smile. This tune or phrase in itself should invoke a smile, so choose something silly and positive that will automatically swell you up with happiness and cause that smile to return.
☺ Be extra Silly! Just because! Also because it's fun, will make you smile, will make others smile, and will make your day far more interesting and pleasant. Make boring situations fun by any (positive) means necessary. Get creative, open your mind, choose to have Fun!

Or you could go back to what I said at the beginning of today's post. The choice is yours.
Me? I'm going to Create a Nice Day and I hope that you do too!
p.s. sorry for the sarcasm. ;)

Since I've been getting the tattoo itch lately, and have been seeing many others getting lovely new ink, this week's topic is... can you guess? Tattoos!!! ;)

Do you have any tattoos? Do you want any tattoos? How many tattoos do you have? How old were you when you got your first tattoo? Which is your favourite? What do you want to get tattooed? Let's hear your tattoo stories! :)

☺ Motivational Mondays! ☺

Gooooo Monday! Hope you've all had a beautiful weekend and are continuing the magic throughout the rest of the week! Hope you all had a fun Earth Day as well and keep that going through the week! Remember how you treat the Earth is how you should treat yourself--which is awesome, all the time! Ah wait, hold on now...

☺ Treat Everything with Respect! You should treat yourself with absolute love and respect at all times, no self put-downs, no negative thoughts towards yourself, just pure love. If you treat yourself with love then you will find that love flowing over into all other aspects of your life. You will start to treat the Earth with love and respect. You will start to treat animals with love and respect. You will start to treat other People with love and respect. In this sense your own attitude towards all other things around you is usually a pretty good representation of how you truly feel about yourself. So welcome love into your life, starting by loving You!
☺ Make all month Earth Month! Hoping you all had a lovely Earth Day yesterday, and just like with Earth Hour, let's keep the momentum going all month long! See how many things in your life you can change to more eco-friendly options--there are always new things to do so have fun with it! And inspire others to do the same!
☺ Ditch Paper! Speaking of Earth Day, let's start with this… The average U.S. household receives 6 pieces of junk mail every day, 44% of that usually ends up in the landfill unopened! Take the steps to reduce your paper where you can. Get your bills sent through email instead of on paper in the mail. Make sure your providers and services don't send you letters in the mail. Place a "no junk mail" sign on your mailbox. Reduce reduce… and recycle of course! ;)
☺ Do something absolutely spontaneous! Every day this week! I'm talking absolutely silly, ridiculous, fun spontaneity. Anything goes! And tell me about what you did! I want to know! ;)
☺ Clear out your closet! I love doing this every so often and spring is the perfect time to do it! For some reason I find it cleansing, it's nice to clear out old things, especially when you realize when things have been sitting in your wardrobe not being worn. Go through your things and see what you think it worth keeping, donating, or selling! Some thrift stores will give you money for your items so why not find out! Better yet, plan a clothes swap with some friends and anything that doesn't get claimed donate to your local thrift stores.
☺ "I will not waste my days, Making up all kinds of ways, To worry about some things, That will not happen to me" ~ Jason Mraz.
☺ Join the Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows!!! I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. This video totally made my day when I first saw it and continues to put a smile on my face any time I watch it. Although, warning, you may get the song stuck in your head and start prancing around in your day to day activities. ;)

Have a beautiful day, week, life! Much Love from me to you!
Create a Nice Day! xo

❀ Question of the Week! ❀

I decided I'm starting something new for my Saturday posts as I haven't had a set theme for this day of the week yet. I also have been wanting to get my lovely readers (yes that would be you!) to feel a little more involved and get some fun interaction going. Therefore, say hello to Saturday's "Question of the Week." What are these questions? Absolutely anything and everything under the moon (beyond even!) that I feel like asking and hearing your fun responses about. ;)
So, let's get straight to it…

Question of the Week... *drum roll please*

The topic? Armpits!
What do you naturals do to keep your armpits smelling lovely and fresh? What deodorant do you use? Any tips to keeping the smell and sweat at bay? Or do you simply not care about using a natural deodorant? Or not care if you smell a little?
Do you shave your armpits? Why or why not? Ever thought about it?

Tell me the story to your armpits. ;)
